چکیده

2014 The surface self-diffusion coefficient of tungsten in the region of extreme high temperatures (3 000-3 600 K) is determined from van der Mast experimental data on laser heated tips using our theory on tip evolution by capillarity forces and evaporation. In contrast to previous results at less high temperatures, the new results show a slope change in the Log Ds versus 1/T curve indicating a change of the diffusion mechanism with increasing temperature. SURFACE HARDENING OF TUNGSTEN-BASED HEAVY ALLOY VIA PACK BORONIZING

The boronizing of a tungsten heavy alloy containing Ni and Fe as the major alloying elements were performed in the present study to increase its surface hardening. Pack cementation method was employed as a well-known, successful solid-state process for boronizing. The coating treatment was accomplished at different temperatures of 1000, 1050 and 1100°C for 6 and 9 hours. The formation of tu...

Diffusion of Alkali Species in Porous Tungsten Substrates

Contact ionization (doped) sources used in current Heavy Ion Fusion (HIF) experiments consist of a porous tungsten substrate doped with an alkali carbonate. During the early stages of the heating cycle (T ~ 600 °C), the carbonate breaks down and releases the alkali atoms that then diffuse through the substrate. At the emitter surface there is a balance between the fast desorption rate of the al...

Investigation of the phononic and thermal properties of tungsten disulfide compound using density functional theory (Research Article)

In this paper, the phononic and thermal properties of tungsten disulfide have been studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the phonon and thermal properties such as heat capacity and enthalpy. The calculations are performed within the framework of density functional theory by pseudo-potential methood and by Quantum Espresso computational package and their exchange-correlation function...

Tungsten as a Chemically-Stable Electrode Material on Ga-Containing Piezoelectric Substrates Langasite and Catangasite for High-Temperature SAW Devices

Thin films of tungsten on piezoelectric substrates La₃Ga₅SiO14 (LGS) and Ca₃TaGa₃Si₂O14 (CTGS) have been investigated as a potential new electrode material for interdigital transducers for surface acoustic wave-based sensor devices operating at high temperatures up to 800 °C under vacuum conditions. Although LGS is considered to be suitable for high-temperature applications, it undergoes chemic...

Surface Self-diffusion of Erbium

The activation energy for the surface self-diffusion of epitaxial erbium crystals grown on a tungsten field emitter tip has been examined. It was found to be strongly dependent both on the crystallographic orientation of the tip and the direction of electric field applied. The values of the activation energy, calculated from Arrhenius-type plots, and also field emission patterns of epitaxial Er...
